Can someone please explain to me why we need to increase our yearly fees? What does the CMRITO even do? Other than dictating our practice and providing us with our regulated acts, this governing body does little for its members. Their attempts to get us recognized as a “front line worker” failed and we were not part of the group that benefited from pandemic pay even though we were one of the many professions who worked tirelessly day in and out during this time. This increase is nothing but greed. How can you justify a 36% increase to the fees while most professions are only getting 1-3% raise yearly if that? Those at CMRITO need to step out of their offices and have a reality check. Maybe they should start working on the frontlines again to remember what it’s like to be just another number. Do better.

This proposed increase in fees is outrageous!! As an ultrasound technologist we have to pay fees for CMRITO, Sonography Canada membership, PLI, ARDMS membership plus we have to pay for most of the CMEs needed to maintain our active working status. Our payscale is not that high that we can afford all these fees and our other expenses! No organization works for our safe guard and monitoring our work load/ pay scale balance. I do not agree to this increase in the fees !!

This is ridiculous! A 37 percent increase??? It’s already bad enough what we pay now and for nothing. This organization provides nothing but a license for us. Ontario is short ultrasound technologists as it is and this definitely isn’t going to help the situation!!

I think with all the increases in everything from food to gas this isn’t the right time to increase our fees. We have been restricted any pay raises due to the current government and an increase just isn’t a fair thing to do to the hard working technologists. We were excluded from the pandemic pay which sends a message that we just don’t matter in the scheme of things. Now u are proposing a fee increase. Not Fair!!

I do NOT agree with this increase in annual fees. The fees are already high to begin with. With the increase in registrants, adding ultrasound the fees should remain the same.

37% increase??!!! Only if our wages get the same hike. 5% is more justifiable.

37% increase??!! Honestly?! I have been working as an X-ray and ultrasound technologist for 30 years… in my career we as a whole have been beaten down, and even so much as to not “matter” with pandemic pay. Please reconsider this increase, as we have families to feed, homes to pay for, a future to try and save for. Please be the one part of our profession that doesn’t let us down.

Ultrasound has just joined CMRITO so your organization is already earning so much more money. It is unfair that our fees are increasing when this organization did not help in any way during our fight for pandemic pay. I strongly disagree to raising fees for the annual registration

The increase is way too high. Do not support this.

Please do not increase our fees that drastically. I already pay Sonography Canada and I don’t feel like this increase is necessary. Please consider your office location and think about moving somewhere less cost effective. Thank you.

Where is the justification for this increase? Please show us why this increase is required, and what the money will be going towards, instead of just telling us we pay less than other registered professions (many of whom make more money than we do). A 37% increase all at once is unreasonable, especially when we are unaware of any pressing or emergent need.

A 37 percent increase is way too high for this group of dedicated yet under appreciated professionals. I am currently resigned from the CMRITO due to health issues but hope to return to the profession. I keep abreast of changes and this increase is alarming. Further, I would suggest that the CMRITO look internally for cost savings opportunities. I also think members need more detail on how and where costs have risen such that an increase of this magnitude is necessary. Has there been an increase related to the resolution of patient complaints? Or is this due to increased costs associated with rental space and staffing? In light of the current financial issues people face including MRTs, I think this increase needs to be reconsidered.

This increase is ridiculous. There is no other healthcare professional that pays this high of a registration fee. I find it hard to believe that the CMRITO cannot come up with a better plan to meet their 2028 budget.

It’s way to much of an increase

Please do not increase the yearly fees. I already feel the fees are so high. We were forced to join CMRITO as US techs and never had to pay such high fees before joining. Joining CMRITO has not benefitted us at all and only gives us more work to do as is.

Given the relatively low wages of many sonographers, the proposed fee increase from $470 to $643 is especially burdensome. Sonographers already face financial constraints, and this 37% rise in registration fees adds to their challenges without a corresponding increase in wages or benefits. A sharp hike in fees could disproportionately impact those at the lower end of the pay scale, making it harder for them to manage costs, which could lead to dissatisfaction or even discourage professionals from maintaining their registration. A more reasonable, gradual fee increase would be a fairer approach.

Increasing our already high amount of registration fees is absolutely ridiculous, we need to see a break down of where the money we are paying is going! A almost 37% increase in the registration fee especially during the economy at this time. That much of an increase should not be needed to reach “financial stability of the college” which rightfully should not be the members problem. With your fees all we get is our license, no insurance which we also have to pay separate, you are going to push people out of the profession.
Posted Tue, 24 Sep 2024 03:30:00 GMT by CMRITO registrant
It’s too much, considering it does not even include professional liability insurance.
Posted Tue, 24 Sep 2024 03:30:00 GMT by CMRITO registrant
We are already the highest registration cost for a regulated health profession and you want to increase it by 40% !! When did we get a 40% pay bump ? no it was pennies of an increase compared to this. This is insulting. Where are you apending our money ? with all of the DMS techs being added on that should take care of aome increase and you dont even cover our insurance anymore.

No, thank you. I can understand the need for CMRITO as an institution. But cost-of-living, inflation, higher patient quanties and decreasing budgets being what they are, this is a disrespectful increase. Even rental communities are capped on their yearly increases to 3%. Claiming other professions have a higher rate does not take into the fact that the majority of sonographers are also paying 330$ to Sonography Canada for membership (often mandatory by employers). We are already paying $860 a year total ( $100 more for those who maintain their ARDMS credentials as was necessary earlier in our careers). Please reconsider this as a detriment to a field that is suffering significantly already.
