Proposed changes to By-law No. 60 regarding annual registration fee

As a CMRITO registrant, I do not think it is in the best interest of hardworking CMRITO techs to raise the annual registration fee by such a high amount.

Too high of an increase We don’t get paid a high enough wage and making end meet is difficult. This increase will put increased strain upon n people already trying to just get by

The raise in fees for active members is ridiculous. If this is happening, technologists should get a raise in salary to compensate all the additional fees they need to pay towards the college

Paying registrants will not want the increase in fees unless there is a salary increase to compensate and help assist with paying this off

The increase in the registration fee during a cost crisis hurts members. Only after lengthy court battles against the province to get our fair compensation after working during the pandemic appears as a cash grab. Furthermore, the fee increase is being used to justify financial goals - what goals? There is not transparency to how this extra $2 million dollars would be used. If there is a budget shortfall perhaps CMRITO should consider other cost cutting measures instead of burdening members with increased fees.

If the fees are being increased due to financial responsibility, then a full financial statement should be sent to the members justifying the enormous increase. Also-the college should allow pre authorized payment plans to help members absorb the enormous increase. Other organizations , cities and insurance companies have this in place and it’s time the college aligned with everyone else.

This is an outrageous fee increase given the current economic climate. It will deter members from registering at all and choosing to work in another profession, given we are already struggling with a lack of staff this is completely detrimental to our profession not to mention reduction in patient care and safety. Has the College attempted to improve its financial position by making changes to its offices and personnel? It's too easy to offload costs to members without first looking at resources and alternative ways to be financially responsible, the reason of not increasing fees in a number of years does not justify this action.

I think this increase is excessive. If the CMRITO needs to fund for 2028 it would be more reasonable to have a yearly increase so the burden on the members is not so heavy. Unfortunately our wages have not increased in line with the cost of living especially for those of us that work in IHF clinics.

Dear Council Members, I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed increase in the annual registration fee from $470 to $643. This represents a significant percentage increase that is neither consistent nor considerate of the financial realities faced by many of your members. As a professional in the field, I understand the importance of maintaining the financial health of our regulatory body. However, this substantial fee hike places an undue burden on many members, particularly those who work part-time or are in less financially stable positions. The proposed increase does not take into account the diverse economic circumstances of your registrants and could potentially discourage talented individuals from continuing in their roles. I urge the Council to reconsider this proposal and explore alternative solutions that would ensure the financial stability of CMRITO without disproportionately impacting its members. A more gradual increase or tiered fee structure based on income or hours worked could be more equitable and sustainable. Thank you for considering my concerns. I look forward to a resolution that supports both the financial needs of CMRITO and the professional well-being of its members.

Please do not make any increase in the annual fees. As technologists we already pay so many annual fees for many organizations that we are part of like professional liability insurance, American registry, sonography canada and for our CMEs. It is overwhelming enough to manage all that in the face of the current financial crisis that our country is undergoing and it is predicted to worsen in the future. Please consider other ways to secure financial stability as we are already very unstable. Thanking you in advance for your consideration.

This is ridiculous. 37 percent increase. We have been getting a 1 percent increase. Most living paycheck to paycheck. What raises have you been getting? Maybe take a pay cut and live at our level. Get rid of your high priced office space. You provide us with very little. If that increase then include our insurance costs, free courses. Saying you want to secure future revenue, I would like to do that too, but I can't just raise my pay by 37 percent. Reality people, look at the economy.

Doesn’t match inflation. Huge increase Can’t afford

I'm disappointed in such a large increase in fees. I'm a retired MRT who stayed in after retiring to help out. This increase is not worth it. Like everything else, our wages are not keeping up with other financial increases.

I do not agree with a 37% increase. We have not received a 37% raise and the cost of living is very high. Speaking as a single mother this will be a lot of money for me. I also don’t see the benefit to us as members.

That is a very large jump in fees. Registered nurses in Ontario only pay lower. We are struggling with every paycheck in this current economy. I don't agree.

This is an absurd fee increase for a regulatory body that offers its members very little. Sonography Canada actually provides liability insurance and relevant continuing education for sonographers. We were first line during the pandemic and received no recognition or compensation for our contributions and this feels like yet another slight. I don’t think this organization does enough for its members to justify such a significant increase.

Registrants are not benefiting from this increase. CMRITO should be working on cutting cost to maintain financial health of the committee instead of transferring this burden to registrants.

I strongly oppose these changes. This is a huge increase and not in line with how little our wages have increased since 2011. This is robbing us of our hard earned wages. This fee is also extremely high in comparison to other professional license fees (eg. Engineers). We have also suffered and endured a difficult past 4 years and many people are leaving the field leaving us short staffed and underpaid. This will give additional incentive for more technologists to pivot to different industries.
