Increasing annual registration is just another hit our profession is taking in the healthcare system. We are short staffed, burnt out and under paid. We do not need to pay more for registration fees. We need a college that supports its workers while serving its purpose.

I am absolutely against such a large increase to our already costly dues. Then we have to add our PLI to this proposed increase which would take us to over 1000.00 a year as an MRT. Working at an IHF that hasn’t had a wage increase in over year, this is very defeating.

Cost is higher than most regulatory bodies. Why does it need to be increase. Most of the college employees are working from home and don’t have huge overhead costs. Please don’t increase our fees.

I understand that economy is down and inflation has been rising but I truly believe we are already paying plenty for annual registration. I don’t believe these fees need to be raised in order to meet the financial agenda. Maybe instead of meeting this agenda by 2028, you can meet it in 2030. When comparing other college fees, we are among the highest paying already without taking into consideration this insane 30+ % increase. The college of nurses pays 384.20$ yearly. The college of laboratory techs pays 340$ yearly. The college of respiratory techs is 162.50$ yearly. Bottom line, I do not see any reason to increase these rates when members are already paying plenty just to be registered. With the increase in sonographers being recognized by the college, the extra income from registration fees should already be meeting the financial agenda.

Don’t increase. You’re going to make a lot of registrants angry including myself. Especially since we already are paying multiple inflation fees everywhere we go. Stop making our lives more difficult, the initial fees is already high enough.

I believe we already pay a substantial amount for what we receive in return. I would be against raising the fee

Hello, this is a significant increase! And comes at a poor time when imaging technologists are short staffed and struggling with high patient volumes and workloads. Also cost of living is significantly up. Increasing our fees surely does not help to convince new technologists to choose this profession or help keep current technologists motivated to stay in the profession.

This is absurd! A 37% increase for what??? This college literally does nothing for its members. Where's my 37% wage increase to Match? In a profession that is facing a massive shortage of employees in the near future, increasing fees certainly isn't something that will motivate current employees to stay and encourage new ones to join

This is absurd! It’s ridiculous to increase the fees by almost 40%. This is very concerning for all registrants. It’s so discouraging for people to work in Ontario and there’s already shortages for technologists in the province. We get no service from you and only pay the fees for no reason. The fees was already too high to begin with and now you are increasing it another 40%. This is totally unacceptable. I hope you can reconsider this and not increase the fees for the sake of your registrants.

Fees are way too expensive for cost of living and how much we get paid.
Posted Tue, 24 Sep 2024 03:30:00 GMT by CMRITO registrant
I believe that this increase is absolutely ridiculous. We already have one of the highest fees out there. It also doesn’t even disclose what these costs cover.

I would like to express our deep concern regarding the proposed 25% increase in membership fees by CMRITO. For several years, our wages have risen by no more than 3% annually, while the current inflation rate stands at 8%. In this context, a sudden 25% hike feels not only disproportionate but also burdensome to members who are already navigating rising living costs. This is not a modest 3-4% adjustment over time—it’s a significant increase that risks undermining the trust and confidence of members across the board. Such a drastic change, implemented without a clear and transparent rationale, raises serious questions about the fairness and necessity of this decision. In light of these concerns, we strongly urge CMRITO to provide a transparent financial review and request an external audit from the appropriate government authorities to justify this unprecedented fee hike. We believe this is a matter of fairness and accountability to all members, and we hope our voices will be heard.

Angered!

This increase is ridiculous. We already pay way too much in registration fees. Your poor financial management should be investigated.

This is a significant increase in fees which will further discourage MRTs and Sonographers from practicing in Ontario at a time when there is significant short staffing. This will encourage individuals to get into other professions or leave Ontario. This decision will ensure individuals do not pursue careers as a MRT or Sonographers.

I do NOT agree. This proposed change is too much of an increase and when comparing to other similar professions, we presently sit at an acceptable annual fee. Financial stability is extremely vague and if the CMRITO headquarters wasn’t in downtown Toronto, perhaps that would alleviate some of the financial pressures. We all have financial issues that we must manage and I am sure there are other ways for the college to manage this instead of going right for the members pockets. One would think the financial stability would have already been greatly improved since the addition of sonographers into the CMRITO. Keep it as is.

This is a ridiculous increase. 37 percent increase when cost of living has increased so much while wages have stagnated for 20 years? I think the college should have to tighten up their finances like the rest of us. The comparables that the college set forth is Laughable as well. Most of the other professions make a lot more money per hour than we do in this college. It’s easier when to swallow such a hit when you make 30 percent more than those members. Just a disgusting proposal.

This CMRITO change is terrible and it is a significant increase. I am atill dealing with student debt and am having a hard time understanding why this increase needs to take place. This does not provide any additional services for MRTS and is really a steep increase that I do not agree with

I find it appalling that the Council would even consider such a steep increase in fees when people already have a hard time making ends meet on a daily basis. At a time when front line workers are short staffed the last thing we need is to have to pay more fees, and for what? They should be making more money since they added ultrasound a few years ago. Maybe they should be taking a pay cut if they're struggling that much.

The increase is huge. I will be a retired member by then, and hopefully working just casual. The increase will make me consider not renewing next year.
