Should decrease, not increase
Posted Mon, 30 Sep 2024 13:00:00 GMT by CMRITO registrant
Hi, This increase in registration fees is unreasonable, especially with the current state of our healthcare system. The CMRITO is asking for substantial increase in fees when we’re short MRTs and sonographers in the province and the cost of living is at an all-time high. Some MRTs and their families are already struggling to make ends meet. Also, the CMRITO does not provide enough to the MRT community to warrant such and increase. In comparison, the CAMRT offers classes, liability insurance, etc, so you can see where your money is going. Unfortunately, I do not feel like this is the case for the CMRITO. Their needs to be significantly more provided to request this additional money. Lastly, we should be wanting to attract employees and future employees to our profession/province to help with this shortage. Other healthcare professions have lower annual licensing fees and the CMRITO needs to recognize that this is not the solution in our already delicate healthcare system. Thank you.

Such a significant percentage increase in annual registration fees seems unnecessary and unfair! This particular group of professionals deserve better than this! Dealing with some of the sickest and at time angriest, and their own College wants to hit them with close to 40% increase. Shameful!

I don't agree to that incentive increase.it's too much

I don’t agree we can’t afford that

The lack of transparency and specificity related to "financial goals" is astonishingly unprofessional. The onboarding of medical sonographers should have precluded the necessity of such a fee increase. The HR budget as described in the financial report defies belief. The CMRITO has created an image of nonaccountability for themselves which is deeply troubling for a regulatory college.

Seems rather high! If absolutely necessary please phase in over a number of years. No one can absorb such a big increase in one year!

I would like to express how upset I am that the college wants to increase our fees by 37%. We already pay more than some of our other healthcare profressionals tgat we work alongside. Nurses pay lower fees and paid more hourly. With today's cost of living, the increase another burden we have to endure to stay in the profession. Not only is morake at an all time low in hospitals, this is another thing to drive MRTs away from this profession. I hope you reconsider and cut cost from within your organization before placing it on MRTs.

I'm afraid I have to disagree with the recommendation to increase the registration fees. My hourly payment did not increase greatly after I had been working for 16 years.

I'm a senior registered medical Sonographer working full-time since 2000 in Ontario. I found this increase in CMRITO fee will affect our financial situation as already we have so much burden due to rise bank interest rates everyday went up. CMRITO has not done any professional steps to give any medical support towards the sonographer like medical insurance other than work or private medical insurance, neither think to support towards any free cpd credits towards the 3 year trinium. ( As majority of us is paying three annual fees as we are memeber of Sonography Canada and Ardms as well). Never think to give raise apart from the organization where we work long time. I request CMRITO to re think the perspective I mentioned above and reconsider our request to NOT TO INCREASE THE ANNUAL FEE AT ALL . It would be a big burden on our shoulder as we all have dependents and there accedemic support is all on our hands. Despite of what is your decisions, this change will effect our mental and financial situation badly in future. We all want to live healthy and enjoy our work with less stress of any kind and financial stress is one of the killer of mental health. Thank you once again for giving us a chance to share out reviews. Hope the reviews and feed back will make a good change and freedom to all of us to work with dignity and respect and will support us to make a right and respectful decision from you and Hope to hear good from you. Thank you. Kinds regards.

The proposed increase seems disproportionately high considering our wages are stagnant and cost of living is unmanageable. Please consider the well-being of your members (and be reminded that you are not beneficial to us but rather serve the public) please be reasonable. If ARDMS introduces an increase it happens in small increments. Sonographers just joined so we have only been members for four years and you suddenly impose a 36 percent increase!!

I think it's unfair to increase our fees by over 30% in one year. Our profession is already struggling to retain technologists and this will only worsen retention. What are the "financial goals" that need such an increase? I am currently on maternity leave and would be so disappointed to come back to work to pay almost $200 more to continue in my career this year.

I feel this increase is outgrageous. This large increase - 36% in a time when families are struggling, out wages have been increased by a tiny margin , Our government put a wage freeze on us, and not close to catching up. This organization does nothing to protect me, and you want me to pay more. This is a service to the public and I feel this is coming at a really horrible time, and not warranted.

Too high increase. I do not agree.

The fee increase is extreme. Can barely afford regular expenses with the pay that this job provides. Employer is refusing to give us a pay increase. This is the last straw to potentially leaving the field all together.

I am against the proposed hike in membership fees. There is huge difference in membership fees across Canada. New Brunswick fees $215 (559 members). Alberta fees $450 (2686 members). Nova Scotia fees $450 (791 members). Quebec fees $505 (6663 members). Ontario fees $531 (15,628 members). Shouldn't MRT'S in Ontario have the smallest fees, in Canada, like New Brunswick. Just saying.

Don't agree to change in fees

The CMRITO generated over 5.6 million in revenue from our dues. There was a surplus of $400,000. By increasing our dues the CMRITO will generate 2.2 million in surplus in 2025. Just because other unions have higher dues does not justify increasing our dues at all. There was a complete lack of support from the CMRITO during COVID, with no advocacy for the hard work we did. I see no reason or justification to increase our dues, especially by such a significant amount.
Posted Mon, 30 Sep 2024 15:30:00 GMT by CMRITO registrant
ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! As it is the fee is very high. Cannot afford any more than what we are already paying. I would like to propose to kindly reduce the already ridiculous amount that we are paying.

In a time when cost of living is substantially higher and many CMRITO members are having difficulties making ends meet, I feel that this increase will cause unnecessary additional stressors for those registered. The comparison of our dues to other careers registered dues fails to recognize the drastic discrepancy in wages between MRTs/DS workers and others listed. As a long time member, I oppose the increase of the CMRITO annual registration fee.
