Fee increase of this amount is ridiculous. Our salaries are not keeping up with this rate of increase and just because other professions raise their fees does not mean CMRITO should. Aren't you already in a surplus?

I strongly oppose a 36% increase in the annual registration fee. We all ready pay exorbitantly higher fees than nurses. The college needs to relocate to a more rent controlled building and reign in the spending on furniture, not hit their registrants when everyone is all ready struggling. The addition of the registration of ultrasound technologists surely has been an increase in funds for the college.

I understand that raising fees can be a necessity at times and raising them in increments of 10-15% is not unreasonable. Raising fees 37% all at once and without clear reasons is absolutely ridiculous. I don't think anyone working in the field got a 37% raise in the last many years, not in all the years added together!! Your email states that you want to reach your financial goals by 2028. What are they? Maybe giving up your very expensive offices would help you achieve those goals. If you really want to know what members think I suggest one of you take a sneak peak in the Ontario MRT and Sonographers FB page.

This is too much of an increase!! My pay hasn't even increased that much.

It is almost a 37% increase is unacceptable! At a time with record low salary increases and record high cost of living, this type of irresponsible fee increase should not even be considered. There should be a limit that is in line with the same percent increase we have for our cost of living. I am also interested in seeing how this organization is attempting to decrease its costs.

According to your own financial statement, CMRITO generated over $5.6 million in revenue from dues, with a surplus of $400k. This 40% increase will mean you'll havev a $2.2 million surplus in 2025. Additionally, your argument that other professions have higher fees is not a valid justification for raising ours. We shouldn’t have our dues increased just because others are paying more. In fact, we already pay more in fees than many other provinces! Since the COVID years, MRTs in Ontario have repeatedly faced disrespect, with little to no advocacy from the groups meant to represent us. How do you justify this???

This fee increase is out of touch with reality. Have you considered moving your office outside of Toronto where rent is high? CMRITO serves all of Ontario, the office does not need to be in downtown Toronto. This may help reduce your costs. And what percentage of your staff has work from home positions, do you need that much office space?

1000% disagree on this proposal!!! As a registered sonographer, previously registered with Sonogrpahy Canada, we were never asked to pay such exorbitant fees. Additionally, their registration fees INCLUDED PLI and CME courses. Please clarify what has CMRITO provided their registrants for $470 a year? Additionally, CMRITO needs to be transparent and post an audited financial statement of their annual revenue and expenses to go along with this proposal. My recommendation is that the council needs to find another solution other than raising registration fees.

I don't think it is right to increase the annual fee. Compared to the ARRT annual fee, we are paying more than 10 times than the MRTs in the states. If our annual fee really increases, there will be more and more MRTs leaving Canada and go to work in the states. We are already facing the MRT shortage, many clinics don't have x-ray techs, can't provide the basic imaging service. After the annual fee raise, the shortage of techs will be even worse and worse.

My hourly pay increase was 3% this year thanks to our union. JUST 3% and it took months and month to get that. How is a 38% increase in fees by CMRTO justified? Your statement about being low on the list of colleges in terms of fees - you are comparing us with surgeons, dentists, pharmacists, psychologists, opticians and optometrists, midwives, physiotherapists. We don't nearly get those levels of income and those professions run as incorporated businesses! I am on the Sunshine list due to nights/weekends/OT shifts and can barely make ends meet in this market.

No. Almost 40% increase is ridiculous.

I truly believe this increase proposal is unacceptable considering what we as MRTs get from CMRITO. The only reason we as MRTs belong to the CMRITO is because it is mandatory. Otherwise we couldn’t work. Having said that, what do we get as members? CPD opportunities? PLI? Perks? Representation before the government for better working conditions and salaries? No

Thank you for providing the opportunity to share our thoughts regarding the membership fee increase. After a brief search on Google, I found that our current membership fee is significantly higher compared to countries such as the USA, UK, Germany, and Japan, where the maximum fees are around 200 CAD. With the proposed increase and added taxes, our fee could reach approximately 720 CAD, which is quite high for a radiology technologist with an average income in the healthcare sector. I hope that these considerations will help in making the best possible decision. Kind regards

I think a breakdown of spending by college should proceed even proposing to increase the fees. It’s not like the registration is optional so we have the right to know how there’s a deficit and what other ways to remedy that issue other than dramatically increasing the fees
Posted Thu, 26 Sep 2024 00:00:00 GMT by CMRITO registrant
I do not support the proposed changes to the registration fee. There needs to be more transparency about what the financial goals of the organization are, and evidence that all other avenues have been explored in reducing operation costs. A 37% increase seems astronomical when our wages have not even kept up with inflation. It seems unfair to compare the CMRITO registration fees to colleges of professionals whose salaries are incredibly higher than that of CMRITO registrants.

The fee hike for annual membership is far too high. There is already a large amount of financial pressure on us, as our salaries have hardly been raised enough to meet inflation. This increase causes even more financial hardship and it is unclear where all of this additional money will go.

I think it’s disrespectful and unreasonable to be charging any of your members more money for fees when you have stood by as the provincial government is decimating public health care. You have done nothing to fight for healthcare workers or patients over the last decade I have been a member.
Posted Thu, 26 Sep 2024 00:00:00 GMT by CMRITO registrant
I don’t support the changes, especially considering CMRITO is in surplus. We are not getting sufficient pay raise yet. To save expenses, perhaps The college location can be moved to a less expensive building.

No. Not justified.

A 40% increase in fees is excessive considering CMRTIO is still generating a surplus in revenue from fees according to their financial statements. Especially with the increased cost of living in Ontario in recent years and the fact that many of us health professionals are still fighting for fair wages. I'm hoping this can be reconsidered or at the very least reduced to a more reasonable increase.
