Proposed changes to By-law No. 60 regarding annual registration fee

I have been paying these dues for over 50 years. I would still like to work. At the moment I am casual, and went back to help during covid. I know nurses don’t pay as much as we do and they make more per hour!! A sliding scale world be beneficial for those of us that work casual or part time or work in a clinic ( as you know they don’t pay as much per hour) everything in our life has gone up and we don’t need this now. If this happens I will retire for good as well as a lot of others who are trying to top up their pensions and our employers will be desperate for the casual help. We don’t get a 50% raise!!

$470 was already expensive. Our pay and salary hasn’t changed that much, and considering life expenses are high too. We don’t have our own business or have a high end salary like doctors, to pay this much for our registration. This is not fare at all.

We already pay higher fees than most colleges for different professions and receive very little benefit for them. Increasing our college fee's more is unacceptable. Please do not increase our fees past the $470. Thanks

It’s ridiculous to propose an increase in the annual fees that is well over a 35% increase while members struggle to make ends meet due to high costs of living due to inflation. wages have remained the same, yet the cost of living has grown significantly.

This proposed fee increase of a drastic 37% is outrageous and absurd. I would like to see in full transparency what our current fees are even funding. Why is it the responsibility of the member to ensure the “financial goal” of the organization is being met. What other avenues have been explored? What cost cutting measures have been proposed? As a member for nearly 20 years who is already struggling during the current financial situation our Liberal government has already spiraled us into I do not and cannot support this proposal. Also, how can we be compared to other organizations of which who’s members make considerably more than us? What has the CMRITO done for its members to warrant this increase, it surely was not publicly advocating for us during the pandemic when we needed it most. Our representation is embarrassing.

The increase in the annual fee will discourage people from continuing their career. The continually rising costs of living and stagnant pay already make it difficult just to survive. The proposed increase is a MASSIVE (27%!!). Surely the long-term stability of the college could make do without such a great increase from its registrants. Please consider other options rather than taking from your registrants. I have to set aside nearly $1000 a year just to pay for CMRITO and PLI just to work in my field, which leaves me nearly unable to pay rent for the month. Please strongly consider how many individuals may be in the same situation - how this increase will affect their lives, and how this will discourage future registrants from continuing in their career.

I understand that more money is needed, but life, right now, is very expensive. If fee increased, it would help if we were to pay on 2 instalments. Not the entire amount all at once on our birthday.

The increase, if approved, is huge and way above the inflation rates over the years. The College should seriously take steps to save, such as renting an office outside the prime commercial area of Toronto downtown. Honestly, as a member I do not see anything substantive done by the College other than the routine checking on members like fullfilment of continuing education requirements. The proposed 37% increase is just unreasonable.

Our registration fees are already high enough compared to others. An increase in our fees is ridiculous. There is not even a reflection in increase in our wages. They try to make it sound like we should expect this, since we haven’t had an increase since 2011. What is this increase even providing us as the actual members. This is unattainable for most people.

It is a ridiculous jump in cost all at once. We are in a crisis with a shortage of techs and this will not help. If you're going to raise it, do it a little each year not such a drastic jump when people are struggling with the cost of living. What has the college done for us to warrant a raise???

With this increasingly daily cost and expenses our wages can not cover our expenses so CMRITO should make a system to relief these burdens not to increase it. I am 100% disagree with the increase of annual registration fee. I hope that it works. Thank you

1. The proposed 37% increase is drastic. If it is necessary to increase our fees it should be at a much lower rate. 2. This does not reflect any form in our increase in pay, or additional CMRITO benefits.

I am disgusted at the amount you wish to raise our fees. This is not a financially kind era we live in and to suck money from us when you provide very little to our day to day work environment is horrific

We already have a large shortage of techs at our local hospitals, they have shortened their hours due to this and our next closest facility with 24 hour services is quite far. You are suppose to be for the public but raising their fees this high will only increase this shortage and therefore do more damage to the access we as a public have to imaging. Absolutely absurd.

Totally unacceptable. This is too much. What we get in return, nothing. No PLI, No CPDs

Such a huge jump for what advantage. On pay scales, we are so much lower than other areas with less fees. Can't afford extra when we don't get extra

Very disheartening to hear. The annual fees are already a huge financial commitment each year and this much of an increase is unacceptable. We barely get a raise every year to match inflation, we are so behind in that way, it’s insane to expect members (who you are supposed to be looking out for and supporting) to pay this much more in dues yearly. There is no way that fees we already pay are not enough to cover the needs of CMRITO

A 35% increase in fees is OUTRAGEOUS. What does the college do for techs? During a tech shortage this is an unbelievable rise in fees

The fee increase is unaffordable for most registrants. With the ongoing cost of living crisis, inflation has far exceeded our wage increases, leading to housing insecurity and reproductive deferrals for the younger portion of the registrants. This increase will exacerbate their financial struggles and will likely impact retention for these professions in an already tight labour market.
