Proposed changes to By-law No. 60 regarding annual registration fee

Please explain to me, how you guys think it's logical to increase the fee by $173 dollars in one year. That is an absurd 37% increase and I am certain there are either policies or regulations that prevent this sort of thing to happen. This is criminal to present us this change in such a short amount of time. Had the college increased this yearly, it would have been less of a shock to see a $5.41/year increase. If this goes through, this generation of technologists are paying an entire generation of technologists' (whom have retired) increases from the past 32 years. Despicable doesn't even come close to what I think of this information that was shared today. I hope to hear back with logical information, not a poor excuse of why someone's mistake over 32 years has to be my responsibility to pay for.

I started reading this proposed change and felt like okay, there has been no increase since 2011 and only twice in 32 years- a change in fee seems warranted/valid. Then I got to the dollar amount and my jaw dropped- what could possibly substantiate an increase in that amount of money?? That is an enormous amount to expect of all your members in one year- and what else are you providing with this increase? Nothing was mentioned other then meeting your own financial goals by 2028- how about you try meeting in the middle with a smaller more reasonable increase in fees and cost cutting in another area. Quite disappointed by this whole proposal.

I believe that the fees are already excessive and they definitely should not be increased. If you compare the fee for CMRITO with the same type of registration in the USA the fees are more than 4 times more for Canadians. This is a substantial amount of fees that we pay just to be able to practice and serve the people in our communities. Definitely a NO for me

I'm opposed of this fee increase for 3 reasons. 1. Wage increase has not kept pace with inflation, resulting in lower wages compared to other regulated professions. 2. Health care worker shortage is prominent in the MRIT field, this continues to hinder the province's ability to lower wait times. Increased annual fee will further deter people from entering the field, and also incentivize those already in the field to look elsewhere. 3. Compared to other professional bodies, CMRITO fee (plus professional liability insurance) is high (i.e. nursing, engineering). I strongly oppose a one-time 34% increase, instead, a gradual approach of incremental increases over time to achieve financial sustainability.

This is a 38% of increase. It's too much of an increase compared to our pay scale. In comparison with nurses, pharmacy and lab technologists, we are already paying much more. I am definitely against this increase

Would you like my children too? Perhaps they'll be fed better in your care. Atleast one of us can be financially sustainable.

In a time when there are severe shortages in the imaging field worldwide and recruiting radiology staff is difficult. This increase seems tone deaf and will hinder the stability of radiology departments in Ontario. After review the financial statements for CMRITO there is clearly no need.

This proposal is the absolute worst thing you could do in this current economy. We already have the highest fees in the country, yet we are paid the third lowest salary here in Ontario. Staff and new RT students are already looking at jobs in other provinces and this will only make it an easier decision to move there and make our staff shortages worse. We are overworked and understaffed and you want to increase the fees when we are all struggling to pay for rent/mortgages and groceries??? We also have staff that are planning on retiring shortly that have already said they will gladly move their retirement date earlier to avoid paying this ridiculous fee. 36% increase??? Basically just a slap in the face. Please do not do this. If anything we all thought a lowered fee would make more sense.

I’m going to express my disappointment regarding the recent announcement to increase the annual registration fee at CMRITO. As a sonographer I am deeply affected by this decision and strongly believe that it is unfair and unacceptable. The sudden increase in registration fee will cause significant financial burden on many sonographers including myself. I respectfully request that the CMRITO council reevaluate the necessity of this fee increase!

An increase of 37% from the previous year of fees with no additional services given to CMRITO members is unnecessary. This increase is far more than the inflation rate of the previous year.

I do not support this increase. Has the CMRITO considered any other cost saving measures? Or is the only plan for financial stability to increase costs to members? More information/effort must be made on the CMRITO's part before I can support this. In addition, many members also pay dues to other organizations (CAMRT/OAMRS) for PLI in addition to the CMRITO dues. These combined dues will bring the total cost of working to over $800 per year.

It’s difficult to pay current fee .I would definitely request not to increase fee or to put employer responsibility to pay half fee of registration.

An increase of $173 with 12038 registered members translates to an increase in revenue of $2082574. Can the registered members receive more transparency as to where the money is going other than "to secure the long-term financial stability". Thank you.

This is absolutely disgusting. As if you cannot think of a better way to cut costs to ensure your “financial sustainability” rather than increasing fees of your participants who are being forced to pay a licensing fee in order to maintain their employment. It is already an astronomical price to pay for literally nothing in return and now you’re suggesting a 37% increase in our fees?! FIND ANOTHER WAY! We should not be penalized for being health care professionals. Like if we haven’t gone through enough in the last 5 years. Whoever suggested this should be ashamed.

It is completely unacceptable to expect the registrants to fund the CMRTIO's financial goals. Radiation therapy departments across the entire province are currently undergoing a staffing crisis. This is not the way to encourage and promote the profession. The licensing exam is already over a thousand dollars and considering this new raise in price it will only hurt the future of our profession. The profession is already in jeopardy and fighting for wage increases since pre pandemic as it is. Young people hoping to go into this profession might consider other jobs with more inexpensive annual fees and licensing exams such as nursing. This fee increase may dissuade those staff working casual and part time from returning to the profession due to such high costs. Please do not rely on the registrants (who are already fighting for fair wages) to pay for the CMRTIO's "financial goals". In addition to this, further transparency would be appreciated regarding how this money will be used.

I think now is the time we are going to have to have some financial transparency on your end. 3.5million spent in Human Resources.. 240G spent on committee meetings (how’s that lunch menu?!) You collected 5.5 million in registrations fees and spent a whopping 5.6million in 2022. Now you’re going to raise our fees?! Where is the money going?!? These “financial goals” needs to be met with cuts from within. Clean it up.

Increasing to so much money our membership makes us very discouraged and can’t affordable, life expensive already high and mortgage is so expensive, how would you think we can pay for this amount of money and living in GTA, I have so much things to say but I will stop here that I know no one agree with you.

I do NOT support the increase in registration fee. CMRITO needs to be more transparent of how they are using the money, and briefs on what cost saving measures they have taken before considering raising the fee. We are already paying a lot of money to licensing bodies every year. We cannot afford this.

As a member of CMRITO for 30 years, I have seen increases in fees without any benefit to myself or other MRTs. You provide zero liability insurance to us; we have to pay for that in addition. You mandate we need CE hours; we also pay for that in addition. You are proposing that we pay 89% more than nurses and med lab; yet med lab has half the members we do. Dental hygenists and psychotherapists are the closest numbers to our membership, yet they both pay less than you are proposing. The lack of transparency to members on how our money is spent and why this is necessary is very concerning. I would like to see a financial audit done and presented to membership prior to any proposed increase in fees. WE financially support YOU, yet you have failed to explain or prove the need for a 36.5% increase to our fees. In a time when people are leaving healthcare careers, and not choosing healthcare as a career, we are experiencing staffing shortages the likes of which we have not seen. Proposals such as this will only exacerbate these problems. The fact that you thought this was reasonable to propose to us only proves how ignorant you are to current living and working situations of your membership. Do better.

This is a massive hike in the fee. I understand needing to increase to reach financial goals. But what about financial goals of all the members to the college. Maybe a more gradual approach with even half the dollar amount in increase would be more considerate of the members.
