This is absurb. The increase you are proposing is more than 30%. With inflation, increased taxes on every individual, this increase hurts every person who pays. We as professionals need to be part of this organization in order to work, but this organization protects the public. As an organization you do not provide education, mental stress leave ( as workload has increased, and stress to healthcare in general), protection for the members that pay into this organization. As members, we do not get anything out of being part of this organization, only the public does, and you want us to keep pay more money and get nothing out of it? Where is this extra money going? Why the sudden large increase? Why is this needed? With the addition of all ultrasound technologists within the province a couple of years ago, doesn’t that increase in numbers increase the amount of money you collect as an organization? This is a ridiculous amount to increase at once to be honest. And we are not given why the increase and where the money is going. So, no. I do not support this increase. With this increase you are pushing more technologists out of the province and making it more stressful for those who stay. For the greater good, please rethink this increase for an annual payment.

With the recent increase in living expenses and the growing concerns about corporate greed, there is a heightened demand for transparency. We would like more information regarding the college's plans for utilizing the 37% increase in revenue. Thank you

I understand the inflation that we currently encounter has caused the price of everything goes up, but to increase almost $200 in the membership fee at one time is a bit too much, plus our salary has not been raised that much in the past years.

I strongly disagree with increasing annual membership price. The goal of CMRTO is to asdure the public of the quality of our practice as imaging Technologists .Its a service for pubic not a service for Technologist. Why even we should pay for them to monitor pur quality of practice. ؟!!! Its unfair and nonsense. The public health should pay for it. We pay for Sonography canada our membership fee and that's enough. Thanks

I feel this increase is unconscionable. During this time of restraint and cost of living increase, a 38% is ridiculous. I would like to see the colleges budgetary restraints meant of offset the increase. We're not a bunch of fat cats here. Every dollar I make has a purpose.

Hi, I currently work as a sonographer and I would like to comment on this matter as I do not agree with the proposed changes. Firstly, I find this notice very poorly communicated. There is no actual evidence or supporting statements given as to WHY/HOW this increased payment will secure "financial stability". I would like to know how the money is currently being managed that over $5million a year isn't enough to support this organization and why a 38% increase is needed. Where and who will that money be going to? Is it not possible to make cuts within the organization to reallocate the substantial funds already obtained through out memberships. I currently pay $530 a year for CMRITO, $225 for Sonography Canada, $54 for liability insurance a year. That's $809 a year in fees just to work in my profession not including union dues. With the increase I would be paying $1,005. My liability insurance protects me, Sonography Canada provides CPD opportunities, learning resources, protocol support etc. I'm lost on what CMRITO does for me that would require such a large yearly payment. The QA profile is something Sonography Canada already does and its just repetitive to have to keep record in both places. I honestly don't see the purpose in CMRITO for members as currently it appears to provide nothing in return. This profession has been treated so poorly in the last few years this is just another insult. There's no reason it should cost this much for us to work if a field that's already struggling to maintain staff.

Way to expensive considering the wages given to MRTs

This is an unacceptable increase!

It is way too much considering wages.

This is unacceptable. You don’t cover our insurance (we have to go with someone else to get that). You now have the ultrasound techs that are included (Jensen getting more money). What exactly do you do for us xray techs? Where is extra money going towards. I am NOT ok with raising the dues by $173 plus taxes.

This increase in fees is absolutely ridiculous. They want to increase our fees because they are "operating under a deficit" but have given no specifics of what the money is needed for and offered any other cost cutting alternatives. Why are we as technologists required to cover extra costs when CMRITO does nothing for us in return. Also using examples of other regulated healthcare professional colleges in Ontario to justify their increase makes no sense because all of those other professions have a completely different scope of practice, job description, salary etc. They're other reasoning is that the current fee does not reflect the inflation over the past 13 years, but they want to increase the fee by 36%. If you want to increase the fee based on inflation, then there should be ~5% increase to account for cost of living in Ontario. Our wages haven't increased nearly enough over this time to account for inflation either so why are we required to pay more?

This increase in fees is not acceptable, considering the cost of living and financial daily pressures and stress. More than a 25% increase is unreasonable.
Posted Tue, 24 Sep 2024 13:00:00 GMT by CMRITO registrant
If fees need to be increased in order to continue the service why not increase a small percentage in the range of 5-10% per year over 3-5 years? Also, how much is the CMRITO paying in real estate expenses in downtown Toronto where the most expensive real estate in the world is found. Only seems logical to move out of that area if expenses are too high.

The increase in CMRITO membership fees is substantial. Registered nurses (RNs) in Ontario pay only $452 for their registration, so why should we have to pay more when our roles aren't even evaluated on the same scale? Our current fees are already burdensome, especially when factoring in the costs for PLI and additional memberships for educational purposes and fulfilling annual CME requirements. It's unfair to compare our fees to professions that earn significantly more while still claiming this increase is justified. In the U.S., membership with ARDMS for the same profession is much more affordable, even though salaries are higher and living expenses lower. Additionally, such high membership costs could discourage people from considering this profession, potentially worsening the current shortage. Not only do I strongly disagree with the proposed increase, but I believe the fees should actually be lowered. CMRITO didn’t support X-ray and ultrasound techs during the pandemic, when, unbelievably, they weren’t even considered frontline workers! Why should we pay higher fees to an organization that hasn’t advocated for us? At least the College of Nurses recognizes the financial challenges its members face and has set a reasonable fee for them.

I do not agree with increasing the fee at all. It is already a large amount yearly and we cannot afford any more. Especially after inflation and no pay raise.
Posted Tue, 24 Sep 2024 13:00:00 GMT by CMRITO registrant
While a certain amount of membership fee increase is expected due to inflation etc. The members are not receiving any more value from their membership proportional to the proposed increase. I would like to know if there are any areas of CMRITO where there could be a reduction in the costs of running it e.g., restructuring roles, rather than increasing membership fees.
Posted Tue, 24 Sep 2024 13:00:00 GMT by CMRITO registrant
This is absolutely unacceptable due to high living costs and financial constraints. This might make one think about other job options. Its about more than 25% of increase so it's very unfair and unacceptable.

Way too much of an increase. Fees are already to expensive as is considering many other health specialties pay so much left.
Posted Tue, 24 Sep 2024 13:00:00 GMT by CMRITO registrant
Disagree with change in fees. The increase does not provide any benefits for the member and CMRITO has not given much support when we needed it most (ie during the pandemic, no one fought hard enough for our pay increase). Members are frustrated.
Posted Tue, 24 Sep 2024 13:00:00 GMT by CMRITO registrant
These fees are already high and people can't afford to pay them. Not to mention our general wages don't even keep up with inflation and we don't even get raises that equal the amount of inflation. Everyone is struggling financially and to pay almost $800 every year just to be part of our regulatory body is ridiculous. You will only cause more people not to join this profession and to force people to retire early so they can avoid these fees. Theres already a massive shortage in technologist and this is not how you show people they are valued and needed. You will only cause more upset and financial constraint.
