No, the annual fees are too much and we haven’t gotten any raises from our hospital and are still affected by bill 124.

Ridiculous idea. In these times every penny counts. And I don’t feel that CMRITO does anything for therapists to really feel that their money is going somewhere useful. We have zero raises and are making 2021 money in 2024. No this is a no. Absolutely not.

This is an unjustified increase. Other, then it hasn’t been increased since 2011?? A 36% increase is excessive I don’t believe CMRTO members salaries have gone up 36%. please reconsider such an excessive increase to our fees especially in this economy. Moral is low eniugh.

When we were working in the throes of Covid, where were you? Certainly not fighting for our rights as frontline workers. Certainly not worried about the mental health of your membership, the financial hardships of your membership. Our unions fought for us and for those that don't have unions, they struggled and still struggle to this day. Do you think we would just overlook that? Post covid staffing issues are still an issue at many places. Numbers of applicants to health care professions including ours have dropped significantly. Yet here you are, in your greedy, head in the sand way asking your membership for more money. Digusting.

I would suggest looking into moving your offices outside of the downtown core to somewhere in the suburban GTA https://www.statista.com/statistics/802500/asking-rent-per-sf-office-space-toronto-by-submarket/ ...or maybe outside the GTA, even lower.

I do not approve of this increase whatsoever. This is such a high increase to help CMRITO "reach their financial goals" at the cost of all of its members. We are already struggling with our wage and everyday costs of living as it is, and now you want each member to pay rough $730 each year to maintain their membership status. With the addition of sonographers to CMRITO our costs for registration should be significantly LESS. CMRITO should be a voice for its members, and having their members best interest in mind. This is making us feel even more underappreciated with our role in healthcare, and more just a money grab.

I think the proposed price increase is unwarranted as they have increased their registration 1 fold by adding ultrasound. This is over a 30% price increase, we are already paying more than nurses on an annual basis and at least they are more recognized for their contribution to the health care profession. Technologists that are working part time are still required to pay the full registration. I do not see any justification for the price increase.

This is a big increase! There are ways to cut down operating costs. Does the CMRITO headquarters have to be located in downtown Toronto?

I am writing to express my concern about the proposed fee increase from $470 to $643. While I understand the need for adjustments, this significant rise will place a substantial burden on many of us. The comparison provided to justify this increase seems to overlook that the job roles and salaries referenced are not directly comparable to our own. We are facing an ongoing economic crisis, with the cost of living rising dramatically. This makes it increasingly difficult to manage day-to-day expenses, let alone absorb such a steep fee hike. Many of us in this profession are already feeling the financial strain, and an increase of this magnitude would only exacerbate our challenges. I respectfully request that you reconsider this decision, taking into account the current economic conditions and the impact it will have on members of the CMRITO. I believe there may be alternative solutions that can balance the needs of the organization without causing undue hardship for its members. Thank you for your time and understanding. I look forward to your response.

Not getting any benefit

I do NOT support this increase in fees. Based on your annual report, the College has a surplus every year, so why is there a need for fee increase? And since the College represents the public, any additional funds should come from the public. Thanks

I don’t agree with the proposed fee change.

I am strongly against this proposed unfair fee increase as many others are. We are already paying substantially high fees for a college that does not even provide us with PLI, whereas technologists in other provinces are paying less than $300 for a CAMRT membership that includes PLI. We pay for our PLI through Sonography Canada which is an additional $300 on top of the $470 to CMRITO. We are already paying more than DOUBLE of what other techs pay in different provinces, it makes no sense to increase this amount by 37%. To try to compare our registration fees to dentists, physicians, surgeons, pharmacists., etc is ridiculous as we don't even make close to the same salaries. We also make less than nurses here who pay less in registration fees, for a college that actually supports their needs. Especially in this economy where we are struggling to pay for basic necessities like rent and groceries. There needs to be transparency with how finances are being managed because there should be no need to raise our fees by a substantial amount when we are already paying such high fees compared to other professions. I'm sure there are better financial decisions that can be made within the college that can avoid this. For CMRITO to even think this increase is acceptable just proves that this college does not have its own members best interests at heart. None of us are being given raises that even come close to offsetting inflation, at most 2-3%. There is no need to put this pressure on the members of your college who are already over worked and dealing with staff shortages and having difficulty finding full time work.

I do not support the fee increase. Our technologist wages have not increased 40% since 2011. This is an excessive increase. Has there been any other cost cutting considerations. With COVID changes a lot more people work from home even now. Is the office space fully utilized? I imagine that there are cheaper office locations than down town TO. Has any office staff had a 40% increase in wage that this increase is considered reasonable. I believe that you will lose a lot of senior casual and part time workers that still enjoy working in DI. The fee increases along with CAMRT and OAMRS fees will make it too big a percentage of the year that this portion of the workforce contributes towards. As a part time technologist, I do not have liability insurance with my employer. I purchase this and other dues that are mandatory from my hospital and government. Please reduce your fee increase to a reasonable rate that matches our wage increases over the same period of time.

Fees increasing are not reflecting any type of pay raise within the Ontario healthcare sector. We require support for growth as well which we are not receiving so this is an expense that reflects increasing costs across Ontario and will be a burden to therapists. It is unjust to increase fees when our pay does not reflect cost of living or the work we do compared to any other province in Canada.

I am disappointed by the lack of financial transparency from this organization. What are the specific reasons that the annual fee requires an increase of such a large proportion? We already face a shortage of MRT's and increasing the annual licensing fee will deter more from entering our profession. Why is it necessary to pay for office space at a premium downtown Toronto location, when we are told that all of the work of the cmrito is remote? Why not start with a reasonable $10 increase that would be more in tune with inflation and actual operating costs? How is this actually benefiting the MRT's of Ontario or the public we serve?

I DO NOT AGREE with these changes. These charges are already to high! Our wages don’t increase but fees for the profession are consistently increasing. Stop burdening us unnecessarily!

I find it absurd how we have just finally been recognized throughout the pandemic with a small sum of pandemic retro pay, only to hear we now have to pay more to our college yearly. A lot more. How is this profession always neglected and always have so many associations and fees? I am a technologist that has xray, ultrasound and CT credentials. I work 3 days a week in ultrasound, 1 in CT and 1 in xray. I am a multi-modality technologist which is very rare and yet I seem to have no advantages of these extra qualifications. Here I am paying for multiple associations to keep my qualifications, for what? I am also not sure if I even qualify to any of the retro pandemic pay because I had switched hospitals end of December 2020 in which it was 2 different unions. I hope someone recognizes that I still worked the entire pandemic, just at 2 different hospitals.

This fee hike is very high. Comparing it to other colleges to justify the increase is not as high is unnecessary and an unfair comparison. It would be helpful to know what CMRITO has done to reduce their costs, how CMRITO actively works to benefit the registrants and why the registrants are responsible to cover the deficit. We don't see a ROI here as with other organizations. Ultimately if the fee hike happens, please note that all of us in opposition will recognize that we have no say in any CMRITO decisions.

I DO NOT support this proposed increase. It is too expensive for the registrants, especially when they are required to pay for PLI in addition to the annual fee. Also, it doesn’t make any sense for non-clinical registrants who are not working with patients to pay the PLI.
