Nurses pay way less in fees and get paid more hourly. Something doesn’t seem right here.

This is a significant increase. Over 100$??? If it was 50$, sure, I would understand but this is a 37% increase. This is insane. I understand inflation is also insane, but it's not as insane as that. If my hourly wage does not increase by that much over the course of 10 years, why should the fees I pay to practice increase by such an absurd rate.

Source of revenue which is the technical part of the billing code for imaging has not increased in decades, yet the expenses on technologists and stakeholders is increasing rapidly. How about CMRITO helps advocate for higher OHIP fees first.

No. Just no. Our wage hasn't increased to accommodate that and you'll probably force a few people to move to other provinces where it's cheaper. Don't do it.

This is absolutely absurd. Not only do we get treated with no respect from the hospitals we work at. But now it feels like we’re not even getting the respect from CMRITO. I do not feel like we should be paying this high of a fee as we do not make enough money in the first place. Our fee should be on par with the CMLTO since we have similar wages and their current fee is around 384 with tax. Our current fee of 470 plus tax is already very high. We pay more than nurses yet they get the support and recognition from everyone in the hospital and outside, higher wages but one of the smallest licensing fees. How does that make sense. We are frustrated by the way we are treated, unseen, under appreciated and unsupported. Many hospitals are already understaffed because techs are leaving health care and this will be another reason to leave.

I strongly disagree with the fee increase. Are you forgetting we were not deem essential during Covid, therefore we did not receive the extra pay. After many many years of action, without the college’s help, we finally received a wage increase that barely covers the huge cost of living increase. For many years we MRT’s have only received a 1% raise to our wage (government mandate) And with the cost of living increase means we’ve been making less over the years. Many of us our part time or have to have 2 jobs to make ends meet. Nice for the college you’ve managed increase your revenue by hundreds of thousands of dollars by bringing ultrasound techs on board. So in conclusion, for the college to increase the fee…I strongly disagree. If you want more money maybe it’s time you start charging the public a fee for your protection against MRT’s.

NO, I would not want the registration fee to be increased. It's too much to pay in this economy.

You do not do anything all day. You take our money and leave us alone to deal with the public and psychotic employers who want us to take patients until we drop. The only time I have seen you do work is when of the entitled public complains about us. I think you can do that for 470 dollars. Why 600?

A 36% increase is absolutely way too much all at once. As a MRT who was casual for the past 1.5 years and only recently was able to obtain part-time work, this increase makes the fees almost what my entire paycheck was at times! I would support smaller increases over a longer period of time if the CMRITO is more transparent about their financial goals and stability ?

I am extremely offended at the increase. As a 40+ year Registered Technologist who worked diligently through SARS and Covid, putting my family at risk of illness, and having no compensation as others, this is a slap in the face. This most certainly will make my decision to not work in Ontario. I continue to work at the job I love in communities that appreciate and truly need the help after retirement. This increase will certainly deter those from entering and continuing in these professions putting a further burden on the system. We the membership, pay to protect the public. We do not receive any support, insurance, or education from the CMRITO. There I no justification for this huge increase.

Not sure how you can justify an amost 36% increase in fees when majority of "our" salaries haven't increased and if they did increase, its probably by 1.5%. PLUS, the fact that the cost of living has drastically increased making it difficult to make ends meet....I think its a bad decision to do this now.

I struggle every year to pay my fees. This increase would add a huge burden to lots of registrants. I propose that the cmrito head office move to a cheaper city/location so that we can stop paying for your high rent downtown Toronto. 36% increase is criminal. The fact that this has been even proposed is insane.

Absolutely ridiculous especially when u do nothing for members at all.
Posted Tue, 24 Sep 2024 13:00:00 GMT by CMRITO registrant
While I understand that the increase is aimed at securing the long-term financial stability of the College, the proposed rise from $470 to $643 represents a significant change. It would be helpful to know what are the goals and how would the members benefit from them. I encourage the Council to take into account the financial challenges that registrants may face, especially those in the earlier stages of their careers, before making a final decision. If you want to compare our fees with other regulatory bodies, we need to know what are the benefits they provide to their members.

The proposed fee increase is drastic. In a profession already struggling with staffing shortages and burn out this surely will be the final nail on the coffin causing many members to re-think their profession. You are going to loose members. Members that don’t have to keep their licence for the non patient facing roles will leave because they can. In the pandemic, where was the college to advocate for MRT’s as front line workers? The membership has grown with Ultrasound joining, yet costs rising?? And an extreme increase not just a minor inflation type increase. Make better decisions. I keep hearing about your rent for office space for a nominal number of people. Change this. Why is it necessary? Don’t penalize the people working front lines who are needed more than ever.

The fee jump of close to 37% is quite outrageous for a group of health care professionals who feel underappreciated. This fee will not encourage new technologists to stay in this profession, and technologist close to retirement may choose to leave earlier then pay this increase. The fees we pay are higher than many other professional associations already. What is the breakdown of where these fees go? What other cost cutting measures have been proposed versus only hiking up the member dues. I am strongly opposed to this proposal .

I believe 37% feels excessive. You brag about not raising fees for so long only to hit us in one fell swoop at a time when everyone is struggling to buy groceries and gas. You could at least cut the increase by half. You may have targets for 2028 but we have targets for the next paycheck.
Posted Tue, 24 Sep 2024 13:00:00 GMT by CMRITO registrant
The registration fees we pay are already absolutely ludicrous. Especially when compared to the US where annual fees are around $100. We currently pay more than PHARMACISTS to be registered in Ontario, a fact I find ridiculous when you think we make on average $75-80k per year compared to pharmacists who make $130k per year. Stop the madness. People are already just trying to get by.

I sincerely hope the college can listen to the feedback from CMRITO members/registrants to not proceed with this increase as many of us are still struggling financially and mentally from the pandemic and the lack of recognition and pandemic pay. Our annual licensing/registration fees are among one of the highest of health care providers already.

I am not in favor of the proposed changes. We already have so many financial constraints due to rising costs and inflation. We don’t typically get help with paying this fee when working in hospitals so this increase would be another huge burden than it already is. Please do not increase the fee.
