An increase of 37%!!!! Is this a typo? There are other ways to decrease costs without making members pay for it. If the proposed increase was a reasonable amount, members would be reasonable as well.

I think it is already expensive to renew the fee. Significantly increasing the fee to renew our CMRITO license just to practice our profession is very inconvenient. I would be okay with a $50-$100, not $200

This is completely unacceptable. We are all working in very challenging environments with insurmountable pressures and challenges. With inflation and cost of living escalating and no real improvements in salary levels, this proposed change isn’t feasible and the timing is all wrong. Please consider these factors before making any final decisions

I don’t believe the increase is fair. Our wages are not going up to pay for this significant increase. We are already dealing with the high cost of living. I don’t understand why we have to pay so much to pursue a career in healthcare.

I absolutely DO NOT support this ridiculous, excessive, almost 37% increase. What are these "financial goals" that require such jump in fees? Are there any cost cutting measures considered?

This fee increase is far too steep for what I feel that the CMRITO does for us as technologists. To be quite honest I don’t even know what, of significant value, this college provides for us. Surely it was not advocating for us during COVID or in this post COVID fallout when short staffing issues and burnout are majorly impacting every hospital in Ontario. This fee is ridiculous in comparison to what similar professions pay. Sure it is below 21 other professions as you say. However all of those other professions listed, mostly doctors such as dentists, ophthalmologists and chiropractors, make exponentially more than we do and can afford these fees. Our fees should be more in line with Lab Techs and Nurses as our jobs are most similar to them, not to physicians. If you think that this money you need for your arbitrary “goals” should come from the hard working, lowly and forgotten technologists of Ontario, your values are seriously misaligned. I am embarrassed to say I work under this College and would not recommend this field to anyone I know. You are taking money away from young technologists just starting out in their career and trying to get their footing. You are taking this money away from young couples and families struggling to afford rent and mortgage payments in this increasingly difficult economy. This increase in fee does not reflect on us technologists getting an increase in our rate of pay, because we have not received any sort of increase that is sufficient to match inflation. Perhaps this raise is to make up for your own staff’s increase in rate of pay. I hope you truly read all of these comments and seriously reassess this decision. Perhaps cut costs within your own operating systems as oppose to punishing your members due to your own poor financial planning skills and management. Because you may lose far more members than this money gain will provide you.

Do not raise the registration fee. 1) we are already pressed enough financially with the rise in costs of everything. 2) CMIRTO does not provide us any service for the fees we already pay. You serve the public, not the registrants, so if you need more money get it from the government. Better yet, don’t spend any more money, tighten your budget. Demanding more money from professionals with NO CHOICE because they can’t practice without registering is COERSION.

CMRITO you spent more on yourselves with your committee meetings than you did on us for education and quality assurance. Human resource spending is steep, must be nice to sit at home and work. We pay for parking, your CMRITO fees, insurance, deal with an incredible amount of frustrations at work and you get paid more than us. It’s backwards real backwards. I hope I get invited to the committee meetings they must be lavish….where are we going Bermuda? Cut your wages, cut some unnecessary positions, how about zoom meetings that don’t cost a cent….makes some cuts within before you start asking us for more.

Strongly disagree.

Untenable and excessive!

I disagree with fee increase because we don’t even get enough raise in our salary and everything else for daily necessities gone up by so much that can’t even say how percentage on over the past few years. CMRITO should fight for our benefits and pay raise with the organizations which they never did but want to raise our fees. Doesn’t make sense.

I am completely against the raise in the registration fee. MRT’s do not get paid enough as it is, this fee is outrageous. There is already a shortage of MRTs and this will encourage people who work casually/are close to retirement to lose their license, including myself. Looking at the CMRITO annual spending report, there are some areas that could improve on spending, such as committee meetings and Human Resources. If CMRITO is desperately looking for more revenue, I think it would be reasonable to increase the fee from $470 to $500. Overall, I disagree with this fee increase.

I think a 40% increase to our wages is quite steep. What is the justification/demand for this steep increase?
Posted Tue, 24 Sep 2024 13:00:00 GMT by CMRITO registrant
CMRITO has done absolutely nothing to promote our profession in the last 16 years that I have been a member. I don't see how I can afford this with very limited wage increases over the last couple of years. I do not approve of the increase in fee.
Posted Tue, 24 Sep 2024 13:00:00 GMT by CMRITO registrant
I am not in support of an increase. As a working professional I am not sure what you have done for us? We are one of the highest college fees in healthcare with the weakest support. You want to balance your human resource budget by taking more money from us, the organizational flow chart should be looked at and the allocation of funds. We are in a tech shortage and this is how you want to promote our profession.

This is highway robbery! For shame !

This is out of line. How on earth can you be raising membership fees when you have doubled the membership with the addition of ultrasound techs (more incoming fees) and operating virtually (less operational overhead/rental space required)? That needs to be explained in full

Absolutely NO to any increase in fees. The fees in fact should be DECREASED and any changes in the "financial stability" of the company can be adjusted afterwards (ie rid of unnecessary bureaucratic staff, waste of resources). We have been tossed through the pandemic enough as it was, people were fired and no support or care was given from the college. You should have had our backs and demanded the hospitals not fire staff for not getting vaccinated. Now the hospitals are working short, casual staff is working more than fulltime hours getting time+half pay. There is a huge waste of resources here and we should not be required to give almost a thousand dollars after taxes to work in this field. Absolutely NO! The college will have huge backlash if this proceeds. Instead, make it better and LOWER the fee! That is the only conversation we should be having. A decrease in fees.

I do not agree with the price increase. It is a major increase for all workers. Compared to other health care professionals we are underpaid, understaffed, and under appreciated especially given the risks of the career on mental and physical health. Inflation is increasing and minimum wage is increasing other health care professionals wage is increasing but ours is not. It is too big of an increase without any clear reasoning or addressing any of our longstanding concerns.

That's irresponsible to raise membership fees at a time of tech shortages. Wait list for MR scans and CT scans are longer than ever in an aging population that requires more and more diagnostic tests. You're actively driving technologists away in a time when staff retention is at an all time low
