Hello, As I'm sure like most, I'm unhappy about seeing this fee raise. Many of us don't feel like anything is actually done for us as technologists by the CMRITO. I've tried to contact the consultations page but the link doesn't work. I'm not sure where else to voice my thoughts. Please send a link if there's somewhere. Thanks,

I hope this message finds you well. I want to express my deep concerns regarding the recent decision to increase the annual fees for our college. Many of us feel that the value we receive does not justify this additional cost, particularly given the lack of improvements in patient care since the implementation of mandatory Sonography registration. Furthermore, I attempted to provide feedback through the link you shared, but unfortunately, it was not functioning. This raises questions about the decision-making process, as it appears feedback from members may not have been adequately considered. It is disappointing to see this course of action taken, and I urge you to reconsider the implications this has for our community. I believe that transparency and fiscal responsibility are crucial in maintaining trust with members. Thank you for your attention to these matters. I hope to see a more collaborative approach moving forward.

Hi CMRITO , First response is : " Absolutely Not " Reasons 1. All Canadians are under immense financial constraints & pressure 2. Canadians are unable to cope with rising Inflation in every sector, for example , Groceries, Mortgages, insurance, rising house rents, rising living expenses 3. Majority of Canadians are unable to fulfill their daily, weekly, monthly , yearly expenses & are coming under huge Debt 4. Economy is stagnant with ltd Job Opportunities 5. Salaries are same as per pre COVID times with absolute no increase 6. Conditions, Circumstances about economy, High Inflation, rising living expenses , difficulties faced by Canadians are all over Electronic , Social & Print Media Keep in all above mentioned Factors in view, There must must & must not be any Rise, increase in annual Registration Fees or for that, matter any other Fees Hope No such decisions will be taken without proper considerations Thanks

To whom it may concern I just recieved the email about the dues increase. I have several things to say - how can you justify such a steep increase? I realize they haven't been raised since 2011 but perhaps better planning would be a slight increase anually instead of this ridiculous amount all at once - perhaps you could move to a cheaper area of Toronto or downsize your staff so that those of us working frontline don't have to bare the cost of your increasing budget it is maddening enough to have to pay dues to an organization that does ABSOLUTELY nothing for me or to protect me without this huge increase I know this email is angry and perhaps unprofessional But I was just flabbergasted at the size of the increase at a time when everyday living is nearly impossible for most people to manage.

Good afternoon, I am emailing regarding the increase for a CMRITO license. I believe this is a poor decision for the members, lots of us are already struggling financially and our regulatory college has some of the highest charges of all other health professionals, especially since theirs includes liability insurance and ours doesn’t. Not all members work for hospitals, some work for private clinics being underpaid. I work as a casual at a clinic working sparse hours and this would make it very hard to work as a Medical Radiation Technologist.

Hello, So your link to your consultation page goes nowhere. As a long standing MRT I am 100% against our professional fees being raised. If the cmrito needs more funding ask the Ontario gov't to fund you. They haven't been funding actual hospitals so they should have money in spades! Stop asking for more from over worked, constantly short staffed, front line healthcare workers who dealt with a recent pay freeze and a joke of a raise when the freeze was lifted. Having to pay such a high price just to work is already a frustration. We pay far more than nurses or comparable healthcare professionals so a further fee hike feels like an insult. Thank you,

Hello Could this fee increase be phased in over 3-4 years. This fee increase is a substantial increase for 1 year which is unprecedented. Thank you

Good evening. I am very disappointed to hear of the proposed increase of fees. An almost 37% increase??? That is insane. What is the need for this? That much of an increase is not necessary to “ensure financial sustainability” of the CMRITO, or for the CMRITO to “reach it’s financial goals” for the future. Where would this increase/extra money go to, or what is it being put towards? What financial goals of the CMRITO are going back to the technologists that fund these finances with our dues? This is unfair, and also just disrespectful to us. We pay enough as it is, an increase of 173.00 in fees is ridiculous. The CMRITO needs to provide way more of an explanation for this proposal and also proof of what our money is going towards because “reaching financial goals” is not a good enough reason and also, it is not for us/the techs to be funding. Thanks,

Hello I think a 45% increase in dues with a 2% increase in salary is not acceptable. Consider a gradual increase in dues over 5 years Perhaps some colleges should consider amalgamating to increase membership and reduce dues by reducing redundant positions? Nursing pays $305 per year and makes more than an MRT. That is the target we should hold all college to.

I don’t agree to the increase of registration fee. Everything is getting more expensive: groceries, utilities, fuel and so on.it’s hard to survive.

Hi With current economic conditions , increased grocery gas, prices , raised rents n mortgagees n pays not raised at Ultrasound clinics, I condemn this idea of raise of CMRITO Fees . It will create more tensions in our life n will affect our work performance too. Kindly look into this serious issue Thanks

A 36% increase is ridiculous. Talk about ways to scare people away from this profession during years of a shortage! CMRITO exists to protect the public; lobby for more public funding.

That is a huge increase ! I definitely find it insulting. I will retire next year if prices go up ! I am 60 and work casual part time.

Good evening, Thank you for sharing the information regarding the proposed increase to the CMRITO annual registration fee. While I understand the necessity of financial sustainability and the long-term goals of the College, I would like to express my concerns regarding the scale of the proposed increase from $470 to $643. An increase of this magnitude could place a significant financial burden on many registrants, especially considering the economic pressures faced by healthcare professionals, including rising costs of living and stagnant wage growth in some areas. Although I recognize that this is only the third increase in 32 years, the jump in the fee may still have a considerable impact on individuals, particularly those early in their careers or with other financial commitments. I would also appreciate further clarification on how the proposed increase aligns with the College’s operational needs and how the additional funds will be utilized to directly benefit registrants. Clear communication of the benefits this increase will bring could help alleviate concerns and build greater understanding. I hope that my concerns, along with those of other registrants, will be carefully considered during the consultation period. Financial sustainability is important, but it’s equally vital that any changes take into account the well-being and financial stability of those regulated by the College. Thank you for the opportunity to provide feedback. I look forward to hearing more about the Council’s decision after the consultation. Sincerely,

Hi Who is going to pay extra to Frontline Healthcare workers many of the Doctors from other countries under severe pressure of work with a lot of disrespect and humiliation with low payments are doing the the best services. Nobody. But we see constantly increasing fees from everyone without any good reason. Really fair ???

To whom it may concern, I am writing this email to let the council know that increasing the annual fee for membership does not do any good for the sonographers but just put them in harm for the following reasons: - The salaries are not good enough and each clinic blows its own trumpet! - I myself am under huge financial constraints and pressure that can hardly meet my ends! - Living expenses and inflation are increasing dramatically every day resulting in an unhappy life! Considering all of these, increasing annual membership fee is not fair. Therefore, I do not agree with the proposal and it is seriously rejected. Thank you

To whom this may concern, There should be an explanation as to where these additional fees are going. That is a significant increase to only have the reason be, “secure long-term financial stability.” Furthermore wages have not increased nearly to the same degree and therefore does not seem fair for members to pay 32% more in fees. Based on the information that has been provided to members, I do not support this increase in fees. Thanks,

Dear CMRITO Council, I am writing to provide my feedback regarding the proposed increase in the annual registration fee from $470 to $643. While I understand the need for financial sustainability, this increase is quite significant and may be challenging for many registrants. The fee increase represents a more than 36% jump, which is substantial, especially considering that many of us are already managing tight budgets. I encourage the Council to consider the potential impact of this change on members and to explore alternative solutions that could achieve financial goals without placing an undue burden on registrants. Thank you. Best regards

As a member of CMRITO I am strongly against this proposal to increase fees. Having to pay both fees for Sonography Canada and CMRITO I feel this puts a strain on my finances. If my annual income rose as much as inflation and cost of living I would not be so against this but I don’t think an increase in fees is justified when compared to the benefits I receive from being a registrant.

Annual registration fees are way too high, please turn down this proposal and lower annual registration fees for CMRITO members.
