Fitness to Practise

Under the RHPA, the Fitness to Practise Committee holds a hearing when allegations of a medical radiation and imaging technologist’s possible incapacity are referred by the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee.

The Fitness to Practise Committee is made up of members of the public and CMRITO registrants. It sits as an independent tribunal to reach a fair decision based on information presented regarding whether the registrant has a physical or mental condition that is affecting their ability to practise safely. Hearings of the Fitness to Practise Committee are closed to the public as they are dealing with confidential health information.

After a hearing is held, the Fitness to Practise Committee may:

  • Revoke the registrant ’s  certificate of registration

  • Suspend the registrant ’s certificate of registration

  • Impose conditions on the registrant ’s certificate of registration to ensure the registrant is able to practise safely

  • Take no further action
